Listening is primarily a cognitive activity\, but it is perceived beh aviorally. We’ve all fake listened at one time or another\, yet others tho ught we were listening. The same happens to us on a regular basis.
\nSome of the newest listening research (Bodie et al.\, 2020) has identifie d the 4 habits of listening. If listening is a habit\, then we have more c ontrol over how we do it in our brain. Listening is important\, yet only a bout 2% of the population has ever had listening training. Much of the lis tening training focuses on the nonverbals of listening\, sometimes referre d to as Active Listening\, but neglects to cover the cognitive aspect\, wh ere meaning is made. Laura Janusik\, also known as DrJListen\, has devoted over 20 years of her life to researching\, teaching\, and training listen ing. Let her help you look at listening in a brand new way what will incre ase your coaching effectiveness!
\nLearning Objectives

Laura is leveraging her 15 year s of HR Management in private industry and 20+ years in higher education a s a professor and scholar who became a world recognized expert in teaching and training listening to help coaches master the Active Listening compet ency.
\nHer PhD in Communication and MBA assist her in using researc h-based information to help coaches understand and practice effective list ening. Laura has 20 hours of courses devoted to listening for coaches accr edited by ICF for CCE’s.

This training focuses on coa ch development – as human beings – we all have blind spots and many times\ , ethical blind spots as coaches. Participants will have an opportunity t o take a closer look at themselves and their personal filters. A coach sp ecific ethical decision-making model will be shared that supports coaches in uncovering blind spots that could potentially get their way. In this 90 -minute program\, participants will also review a challenging ethical dile mma\, determine potential breaches of the ethics code and identify opportu nities for “course correction” throughout the dilemma\, with a question-an d-answer session to follow.
