June 2025 Newsletter

Dear ICF Members,

As we arrive at the midpoint of the year, June invites us to pause, take stock, catch our breath, and reconnect with our purpose. It’s a powerful moment to ask ourselves: Where am I growing? Where do I need support? What am I ready to let go of?

Across our ICF community, I hear a shared theme: coaches are holding space for so many, yet craving space for themselves. If that sounds familiar, know that you're not alone. Midyear is an ideal moment to reset—not with pressure, but with compassion and curiosity.

As your ICF Chapter President, I want to recognize the incredible work you’re doing—not only in your practices, but in how you show up in service of transformation. Your commitment to coaching excellence, ethics, and continuous growth is what makes our community so strong.

Looking ahead, we have some exciting opportunities for connection, learning, and leadership. Whether you’re new to ICF or a long-time member, I invite you to stay engaged, reach out, and let us know how we can support your journey.

Here’s to a reflective, revitalizing June—and to growing together in the second half of 2025.

Warmly,

Deborah Thompson, PCC

President, ICF New Mexico

How to Regulate Your Emotions as a Coach
Date:
June 25, 2025
Time:
12:30pm - 2:00pm MDT

To regulate our emotions effectively, we must understand the physiology of emotions and move beyond fearing them or mislabeling them as purely therapeutic. Emotional regulation isn't just about "staying calm"; it's about recognizing how our physiological states and mental narratives work in tandem to shape our responses and reality.
This session will introduce participants to the latest scientific insights on emotions and cutting-edge techniques to embody a coaching mindset with greater skill and intention.
At the end of this talk, participants will be able to:
- Define emotional regulation and understand its three levels.
- Identify the two components of any emotion that unlock it's transformative potential.
- Demonstrate effective emotional regulation techniques you can use on yourself.
