Dear Coaches,
As we move into the fall season, I want to highlight the vital role you play in Engagement and Governance for our New Mexico coaching community.
Engagement
Your active participation is crucial to building a thriving coaching community here in New Mexico. By engaging, sharing our knowledge, and supporting one another, we can elevate the coaching profession and create a vibrant network that benefits everyone.
Looking ahead, we have a full lineup of events in September—mark your calendars, register, and come have some fun with us. Be inspired, learn, and earn CCEUs.
You’ll find more details and registration links in the Events section of this newsletter, but here are a few highlights.
- Keys to Transition from Corporate To Coach on September 9. This one is FREE for all New Mexico members & associates as part of our monthly business development series. Elissa Kelly is a phenomenal coach and presenter who helps coaches around the country make the leap from corporate to entrepreneur.
- Coaches Case Study on September 10 featuring our amazing and talented co-facilitators, Linley Daly and Jillian Gonzales. Join us for a small group case study where we’ll experience a deep inquiry and reflection about our processes, practices and mindsets as coaches. Space is limited so grab your (virtual) seat while you can!
- Monthly Workshop - A Deep Dive into Values on September 12 explores the role of values in the Coach and Client relationship, and how to apply them to all relationships. This is a co-hosted event so note the two step registration process.
- Santa Fe Coaches Connect on September 17 at the beautiful home of Jodi Hummer. This is a free potluck style gathering and an opportunity to connect informally - we welcome all coaches, and tag a friend or colleague to join you. Come meet, socialize and connect!
- 23 Steps to Fill Your Programs with One Signature Talk on September 24 - This is another great opportunity to sharpen our skills as business owners, entrepreneurs, and overcome our fear of the dreaded sales pitch.
Leadership and Governance
Last week we sent out a call for nominations for our 2026 Board, and you may have noticed that a few critical roles are open for nominations - President, President-Elect, Treasurer - these are essential officer roles we still need to fill. We’re also on the look-out for new (and returning) volunteers to support Programming, Membership and Marketing.
Although board and committee service requires commitment and time - it’s also very rewarding. For me personally, getting involved in my local ICF chapters - first in Arizona and now in New Mexico - has been a tremendous opportunity to create new friendships, expand my professional network, and develop my leadership skills.
ICF Global requires that board members be active ICF global members - which means there are only about 110 of us in the entire state who are qualified to serve on the board. I ask each of you to consider whether having an active, local chapter here in New Mexico is important - and if it is - please consider applying for a board role.
You do not need to be a Global member to volunteer for one of our Committees - so there are a lot more of you out there we’d like to engage. If you have a few hours each month you’re willing to contribute, reach out to me at president@icfnewmexico.org so we can discuss potential roles.
In closing, I want to invite each of you to consider a role you can play to contribute to our collective success - whether through board service, volunteering for a committee, or simply committing to attend an upcoming event. Your participation matters and helps to strengthen our coaching community.
With gratitude,
Deborah Thompson, PCC
