Deepening Your Use of Metaphor in Coaching
Oct 21 @ 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Register-Here-ICFNM

Description of Program:

An experiential workshop
Metaphor is a really powerful coaching technique that is often underutilized and forgotten if our coaching clients emphasize their need for fast results. Exploring a metaphor takes time and courage but it pays off by both deepening and broadening the client’s awareness and enables them to achieve better and more sustainable results.

We believe that metaphors

  • help clients simplify the complex
  • increase their familiarity and comfort with the unknown
  • help clients verbalize experiences that are difficult to put into words
  • reduce fear by making it easier to relate to the situation at hand

In this program participants will:

  • learn tools and techniques to use metaphors in coaching
  • explore the different meanings, interpretations, of various metaphors
  • apply these metaphors to reflect on themselves, their businesses, etc.

Both beginner and more seasoned coaches are welcome to this program.

Please come with a personal question or challenge with which you would like to practice the use of metaphor.
Expect a highly experiential and reflective two hours.

Coaches Case Study
Dec 3 @ 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Facilitated by: Tunde Horvath, MCC and Jean Strosinski, MCC

In this program, one of the participants will present a coaching client case, followed by an in-depth group exploration of the underlying themes and dynamics.

If you notice any of these tell-tale signs, consider bringing the case to this program:

  • As a coach I feel I’m not providing enough for the client.
  • I know I need to confront my client but for some reason I can’t.
  • I feel there’s a power struggle between the client and myself.
  • I find it difficult to keep healthy boundaries.
  • I feel exhausted after sessions.
  • I feel bored or helpless during sessions.
  • I feel I know what my client is thinking and feeling.

During the Coaches Case Study program, the focus will be:

  • Coaches getting in touch with processes related to the given client or topic.
  • Identifying and working with the dynamics in the relational field between coach and client.
  • Gaining clarity about the patterns that support as well as hinder the coaching work.

Typical learnings may include:

  • The overt and covert dynamics between coach and client.
  • How to keep the work fully aligned with the coaching agreement.
  • What constructive / destructive patterns, including inner resistances, get co-created between coach and client.
  • Strategies they can apply to assist clients in achieving sustainable change.
  • Different ways coaches can support themselves in each particular case.

How Unconscious Bias Shows Up in Coaching with Kanu Kogod, MCC
Jan 28 @ 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

A huge challenge for mitigating the effects of unconscious bias is to recognize it shows up in ourselves or in our clients. Subtle energetic reactions reveal our biases and then we must mindfully tune in to our own somatic experience to adjust and respond to the moment. In this session, you will learn to recognize these subtle energetic reactions as they occur. You will learn a method for conscious, constructive inquiry and other mindful practices to support your ongoing development. Knowing your biases and how they might show up is a key to building trust – your most important skill in the coaching relationship.
